Default Cutting off blood to build muscle, interesting aye?

If you don't know about the existence of occlusion training, you should check it out.

Although I think it would only be appropriate for more seasoned gym-rats who already know what the heck they are doing in the gym.

I think the irony lies in the fact that the majority of bodybuilding supplements out there are geared to do that exact opposite of what this occlusion training promotes.

Sort of seen this before in a video but slightly different, he used the knee wraps on his biceps when doing preacher curls.

    Here are the cliffs.

-Acidic environments cause anabolic hormones to be released.

-Cutting off blood supply increases lactic acid levels in the muscle, thus lowering PH.

-This does several interesting things, it causes your red muscle fibers to start working under less

resistance due to the anearobicity, tricking your muscles into thinking you are lifting heavier weights

and thus there is more muscle fiber recruitment.

    Super cliffs version:

Cutting off blood supply and working with 20% of your one rep max is similar to working with your 1 rep max aerobically, (according to muscle fiber recruitment)

Blood must be cut off for long enough to bring on the lactic acid, probably in the 10-15 minute range, painful as all hell.

I feel the same as you. I think it would be a good last resort thing for people who are already ridiculously developed, naturally or otherwise.

But if you are growing just fine now? then who cares?

Although admittedly I will be doing occluded cardio for contest prep.

I think the real claim to fame is the lack of stress it puts on the joints.

I also thought the muscle fiber recruitment with lack of weight was also interesting.

I did my first session of occluded "cardio" today.

I took knee wraps... Choked my legs, and walked home a mile (about 15 minutes).

Was very interesting to say the least....

If I where to try this occluded stuff, I think I would deffinately try it with the cardio and see if it makes any difference to my upper legs or possible try it for my calves (my calves are laggging).

I almost feel that this sort of training could trigger adrenal burn out if one wasn't careful. I suppose you would want to be experienced and know your limits with this one.
